House Captain
Role Overview
Leads a house within the school's house system. Drives house spirit, organises house activities, mentors house members, and represents the house in school-wide events and competitions. Works closely with the Student Leaders' Advisor and Head of Pastoral.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate house members across all year groups
- Organise and coordinate house activities and competitions
- Represent the house at student leadership meetings
- Mentor junior house members and promote positive culture
- Track house points and participation
- Report house progress to Student Leaders' Advisor

HC01 — House Planning & Goal Setting

- Review previous term's house performance and feedback
- Set house goals and priorities for the term (participation, spirit, service)
- Plan house activities aligned to school events calendar
- Present plan to Student Leaders' Advisor for approval
- Communicate plan to house members through assemblies or notice boards
- Coordinate with other House Captains on inter-house events
HC02 — House Activities & Competitions
Frequency: as per events calendar Approval: Student Leaders' Advisor, Head of Pastoral Tools: events calendar / sign-up sheets Coordinates with: Student Leaders' Advisor, CCA Coordinator, Head of Pastoral
- Identify inter-house and intra-house activity opportunities
- Organise sign-ups and team selections
- Brief house members on expectations and conduct
- Coordinate logistics with Student Leaders' Advisor and CCA Coordinator
- Lead house during competitions and events
- Record results and update house points
- Debrief with house members after each event
HC03 — House Assemblies & Communication
Frequency: as scheduled Approval: Student Leaders' Advisor Tools: assembly plan / notice boards Coordinates with: Student Leaders' Advisor, Homeroom Tutors
- Plan house assembly content (updates, recognition, motivation)
- Submit assembly plan to Student Leaders' Advisor
- Deliver assembly to house members
- Use notice boards or digital channels for ongoing communication
- Collect feedback and suggestions from house members
HC04 — Mentoring & House Culture
Frequency: ongoing Approval: House Captain Tools: mentoring log Coordinates with: Student Leaders' Advisor, Homeroom Tutors
- Identify junior members who would benefit from peer mentoring
- Pair with senior house members or self as mentor
- Check in regularly with mentees on well-being and school life
- Promote positive behaviour, inclusion, and house identity
- Escalate any concerns to Student Leaders' Advisor or Homeroom Tutor
- Log mentoring activities for portfolio
HC05 — House Points & Reporting
Frequency: weekly / termly Approval: Student Leaders' Advisor Tools: points tracker Coordinates with: Student Leaders' Advisor, Subject Teachers
- Collect and record house points from activities, behaviour, and academics
- Update house leaderboard weekly
- Identify areas for improvement or additional participation
- Prepare termly house report for Student Leaders' Advisor
- Celebrate achievements at house assemblies
