Admissions

Applying, assessment and joining ZERA.

What is the application process?

It’s simple and welcoming: get in touch and visit our campus, complete an application, and attend an assessment and interview so we can place your child in the right year group. Our admissions team guides you through every step.

What should I bring or prepare?

Your child’s IC or passport, both parents’ IC or passport, your child’s latest report card (or proof of current enrolment), a medical report if your child has any medical or special health needs, and any special educational needs reports if applicable.

What are the fees?

Our full Cambridge fee structure for 2026/2027 is published on our Fees & Tuition page — monthly and annual plans, a founding-family rate, and a 5% rebate for annual upfront payment. Fees vary by year level; our admissions team can confirm the exact figures for your child.

When does the school year start?

Our main academic intake begins in August, with additional new-term intakes in January and April. Intake availability varies by programme and year level — please contact our admissions team for current placements.

What curriculum do you offer?

The Cambridge International curriculum from Year 1 to Year 11 (ages 5–16), leading to the IGCSE — globally recognised and equivalent to the national SPM qualification. ZERA is a registered Cambridge International School and authorised exam centre (Centre No. MY486), so students sit their IGCSEs on campus. We also offer zera PLUS for children with special educational needs.

Fees & Tuition

The things families ask us most about fees and payment.

What does the Initial Payment cover?

The Initial Payment is what you pay to secure your child’s place. It combines the one-time Assessment Fee (RM 500) and Registration Fee (RM 1,500) with the Security Deposit and the annual Books & Resources fee for your child’s year level. Tuition is billed separately under your chosen monthly or annual plan.

What is the Founding Family rate?

It’s a reduced tuition rate offered to our early families as ZERA grows. Standard rates apply to new enrolments once founding places are filled — our admissions team can confirm current availability.

Is the Security Deposit refundable?

Yes. The Security Deposit is fully refundable when your child leaves the school, provided you give one full term’s advance notice. It tops up as your child progresses through the year levels.

Do I get a discount for paying annually?

Yes — enjoy a 5% rebate on tuition when you pay a full year upfront by cash or bank transfer before the academic year begins in September. Terms and conditions apply.

What isn't included in the fees?

Fees do not cover school uniforms or meals, which are not provided. For non-Malaysian students, visa levies, application fees and other administrative charges may apply where applicable.

How do I get a fee quote for my child?

Message us on WhatsApp at +60 13-205 8869, call Student Service on +60 16-298 8869, or email [email protected]. We’ll walk you through the exact figures for your child’s year level and preferred plan.

Cambridge Programme

Curriculum, accreditation and school life on the Cambridge Pathway.

What curriculum does ZERA follow?

We follow the Cambridge International curriculum from Year 1 to Year 11 (ages 5–16) — Primary, Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary (IGCSE) — delivered with personalised support and small classes of fewer than 25 students.

Is ZERA an accredited Cambridge school?

Yes. ZERA is a registered Cambridge International School and authorised Cambridge exam centre (Centre No. MY486) — approved by Cambridge Assessment International Education to teach the Cambridge curriculum and to run IGCSE examinations on campus, so your child never has to sit their exams as a private candidate elsewhere.

What is the Cambridge Primary programme? (Years 1–6)

Our Cambridge Primary programme lays a strong foundation for young learners, building core skills in literacy, numeracy and critical thinking. A strong early foundation sets each child up for confident, independent learning through the rest of school.

What is the Cambridge Secondary programme, and what is the IGCSE? (Years 7–11)

Our Lower and Upper Secondary programme broadens subject choice and emphasises real-world application, culminating in the IGCSE. The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is a two-year qualification for ages 14–16 that is globally recognised and equivalent to Malaysia’s SPM, and is widely accepted by universities and employers worldwide.

What are the school hours?

The school day runs from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with a breakfast break in the morning and lunch in the early afternoon.

How much are the fees?

Our full Cambridge fee structure for 2026/2027 — monthly and annual plans, a founding-family rate, and a 5% rebate for annual upfront payment — is published on our Fees & Tuition page. Fees vary by year level; our admissions team can confirm the exact figures for your child.

When can my child start?

Our main academic intake begins in August, with additional new-term intakes in January and April. Availability varies by programme and year level, so please contact our admissions team for current placements.

zera PLUS

Our special educational needs programme.

Who is the zera PLUS programme for?

zera PLUS is designed for children with special needs, including developmental delays and learning disabilities. Our intensive intervention programme develops the functional, academic, cognitive, social and behavioural skills essential for each child’s growth.

What is the main goal of the programme?

To develop a child’s functional, academic, cognitive, social, behavioural and speech-and-language skills — building the confidence and independence they need for educational and social success.

Is the programme adaptable for learning from home?

Yes. Our courses can be adapted for distance learning through our online platform should the need arise.

How does my child join, and is there an assessment?

Every child begins with a personalised assessment so we can understand their needs and build the right support plan. Contact our team to arrange an initial conversation and assessment.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, sports and activities beyond the classroom.

Are extracurricular activities compulsory?

We strongly encourage participation to foster well-rounded development. Co-curricular clubs run during school hours; more specialised activities run after school. Requirements can vary by year level — please contact us for the current programme.

What is the goal of these activities?

To help students develop new skills, build confidence, improve their social and teamwork abilities, and find joy in learning outside the traditional classroom.

How does my child sign up?

Sign-ups are typically held at the beginning of each term, and information is shared directly with students and parents. Students may take part in up to two co-curricular activities per term.

Is there an extra cost?

Co-curricular clubs are part of school life. Specialised after-school activities — which may involve external coaches, equipment or certification — carry additional fees. Please contact us for details.

Counselling

Student wellbeing and pastoral support.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. All counselling sessions are kept private, unless there is a concern for a student’s safety. Updates may be shared with parents when appropriate.

How does my child access counselling or learning support?

Support can begin with a referral from a student, teacher or parent. The counsellor or learning-support team then assesses the child’s needs and puts the right support in place — from individual sessions to a personalised learning plan.

Who leads counselling and support at ZERA?

Our counselling and support services are led by Mr Alex (Counsellor) together with Ms Helena (Principal), working closely with teachers and parents.
